    1. This Privacy Policy applies to:

      1. to provide, maintain, protect and improve the quality of our offer, including conducting anonymised market research, and to protect us and our users;

      2. to provide you with a personalised browsing experience when using our channels;

  6. Data Provision Via Social Media Accounts

We may use an external Facebook Comment Box plug in provided by Facebook or any other social media accounts linked commenting system for users to comment on the content posted on the Facebook page or other social media links of ESN and its sub domains. Users can comment using their Facebook or other social media profiles. Please note that this data (user profile and comment) are not stored on our servers and databases and ESN has no control over how this data is used and displayed on associated social media networks and their privacy and data usage policies. Moreover, your comments would be visible to all the users (logged in or not) of the ESN websites.

All information is stored on our secure servers, or in case of our online ESNcard platform ( or Discover Europe contest (, on servers that belong to our partner.

  1. Legal Basis for Processing Your Information

    1. Our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described above will depend on the personal information concerned and the specific context in which we collect it.

    2. However, we will normally collect personal information from you only:

      1. where we have your consent to do so;

      2. where we need the personal information to perform a contract with you; or

      3. where the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your rights. In some cases, we may also have a legal obligation to collect personal information from you.

      1. universities and other partner institutions;

      2. our newsletter provider (which allows us, for example, to send personalised e-mail communications to you);

      3. our provider of file storage and management services if you e-mail us directly (Google);

      4. our payment services provider, when you make a purchase, to process your payment ( Sp. z o.o.);

  1. Data Retention

    1. Unless specified otherwise, we will retain your information until you deregister. However, we may need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes. There may also be residual information that will remain within our databases and other records, which will not be removed and you acknowledge and authorize us to use the residual information as per our discretion.

    2. We retain personal information we collect from you where we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so (for example, to provide you with a service you have requested or to comply with applicable legal, tax or accounting requirements).

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will anonymise it or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing.

Even though we never associate your comments, information or other activity with any of your public user profile information (such as name or date of birth) in our datasets, it may still be possible to identify you by the content of your comments. We want you to feel comfortable sharing any comments with us, and we confirm that all entities who conduct research will never associate your comment or your activity with your personal data and will always treat any personal data in strict accordance with data protection laws and the research ethics guidelines.
