"Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children."

Alex Haley

Grandmother’s and Grandfather’s Days are celebrated on the 21st and 22nd of January 2017, respectively, in Poland. This is different from counties such as the US or the UK, where only one day is celebrated (this year, it will be September 10th).

These are special days for every grandchild. During Grandmother’s and Grandfather’s Days, they can say how significant the grandparents are for them. They have patience and time, when parents are often busy. They have stories to tell and interesting games to play. They are also good for treats and spoiling, which we all need from time to time!

How to honour your best friends
Try to visit your grandparents. Let’s give them a kiss and say how you love them. Spend some time with them, give them the pleasure and eat dinner which grandmother prepared especially for you. Give them an opportunity to be proud of you. Tell them about your studies, about your girlfriend/boyfriend and you can also tell them about your troubles! I am sure that they will give you some advice!

You can not visit them? Contact with your grandparents by phone, Skype or some other form of communication. Wish them all the best, talk about their health and frame of mind. Say how much you love them and appreciate their daily support.

We hope that you will spend the 21st and 22nd January with your grandparents and that they will feel they are the most vital people in your life. Good luck!
